Paul Jenkins
Paul Jenkins was born in the West Midlands in 1949.
Paul first started his career in art in the early 70’s sculpting in wood and then found himself drawn to sculpting in clay and wax. He went on to study in ceramics at Dudley College of Art.
After graduating in 1979, he set up his own business designing and manufacturing Sculpture and Ceramics, which were then sold through resellers all over the world. Within five years Paul had a growing customer base that included galleries, private collectors as well as the general public. He sold the business to concentrate on more exclusive art works rather than the mass-market pieces he had successfully produced in the past.
Paul went on to work as a commercial designer for various companies around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum (New York), where he was commissioned to reproduce the exact size, shape and colour of a rare 1850’s tea pot which was exhibited and further copies were sold onto galleries and private collectors. Paul has also created more outlandish pieces such as six ten-foot Art Deco figures for an interior of a nightclub. He recently sculpted six pieces for the National Trust which were then presented to people for their outstanding contributions within the Trust.
Paul’s inspirations come from his love of nature especially animals. Many of his pieces are inspired from direct observations of wild animals in their natural habitat.
Paul’s work can be found in many galleries around the country including:
Montpellier Gallery, Artifax Gallery, Warstone Gallery, Focus Gallery and many others.
Paul currently teaches pottery and sculpture at local schools passing on his knowledge and love of art.
