Jenny Reading
Jenny specialises in sculptures of Lurcher dogs, a 'Jenny Reading Lurcher' is something quite special! She crafts each dog or dogs in crank clay, to create a unique image, sometimes with stoneware slip to obtain a smooth finish. She colours them with various metal oxides and fires them to stoneware temperatures.
Jenny finds Lurcher dogs an ideal subject as they have a lot of character in a very elegant form. She tries to emphasise their curves and lines in her sculpture while retaining that character.
Born in 1957 in rural North Bucks with an agricultural upbringing at the time involving close contact with animals and the natural environment, she moved to West Norfolk in 1997 with her daughter Christina, who is a Fine Art Photographer.
In 2002 she started a National Diploma in Ceramics, followed by an HND in Fine Art.
