Thomas's designs have developed over the years, influenced by the broad spectrum of the arts, his own photography and everyday sights and objects. Sometimes it is the happy accidents that create the best designs.
Each piece has been sandblasted, which like the sea and winds, have eroded the surface revealing colours and patterns underneath and giving parts of it a mottled effect.
Like many Glass Artists Thomas started his craft experience in the world of Clay at school and despite his determination to be the next Bernard Leach he was encouraged to try other artistic mediums to broaden his mind and experience
Remembering a childhood visit to the Dartington Crystal Factory to watch glassblowing he set about searching for small courses and found one with Norman Stuart Clarke, in Cornwall. He was then determined to be a Glassmaker, so took up a voluntary position, at the Glasshouse in Covent Garden.
