Karen SJ Keable

Karen SJ Keable

24 March to 17 April 2017

Karen's first solo exhibition was held in Southwold 15 years ago. Since that time, she has continued to explore and develop her ability to capture the light and life of the coast.

'I always strive to incorporate light and life in my paintings; transporting the viewer in the same way as bringing a shell to your ear and listening to the sea.

In this, her 50th year, Karen wanted to mark the occasion with a strong collection of her favourite scenes. Painting in acrylics, Karen's preferred subjects are the panoramas that we see when walking along the coast at Southwold, Aldeburgh, Walberswick and North Norfolk.

'I love being by the sea and everything that our Norfolk and Suffolk coastline has to offer. I find daily inspiration in a dramatic sea, a breath-taking sky, a rugged old boat, a shingle coastline with driftwood or in the spirit of local folk, I dream of the sea.'
