Artists Naomi Brangwyn

Naomi's work sits somewhere between stained glass and painting. designed to hang on a plain wall where it can be enjoyed equally in natural or artificial light, she uses traditional stained-glass techniques, but wielding the glass cutter as a painter uses a brush. Usually working freehand with the limited colour palette available, she encourages the glass to dictate its use - a wave, stormy sky, field, wildflower - often preferring the more subdued shades.

She studied at Reading Art College and Islington, and was introduced to glass in 2001. Naomi has experimented and pushed her ideas which have evolved into a unique style incorporating metals and found objects, and leaving increasing amounts of space that gives the shapes and colours room to breathe.

Working with glass presents challenges for detail, while nature provides inspiration for shapes, textures and movement. The work is a constant toing and froing between the natural world, the expanses as well as the wild corners, and the materials and techniques.
