Chris works almost exclusively in oils on canvas panel-grounds made by stretching and fixing canvas over a wooden or composite panel before being primed. This provides a firm and stable support for the transparent glazing and stippling methods he uses to create his vivid colours and the sense of depth, light and shade seen in his paintings.
After completing a Foundation Diploma at Stourbridge College of Art in his native Midlands, in 1990 Chris moved to Norwich to undertake a BA Honours degree course in fine art.
This included a period of study at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Kunste in Karlsruhe, Germany. Since completing his degree he has continued to live in East Anglia.
!n 2003 he turned to painting full time. He shows regularly in galleries in London and throughout the east of England.
