Kate Felton studied Typography & Graphic Communication at Reading University before entering the School of Communication Arts, London, under the tutorship of John Gillard. She was then employed by Paul Arden as an Art Director in the Creative Department of Saatchi & Saatchi, Charlotte Street, London where she worked on TV, press, poster and radio campaigns for many years; winning silver Creative Silver and Gold NABS awards, before moving away from London to Suffolk, where she lives today.
Kate freelanced as a designer, before finally taking the plunge and moved into the fine art world, working mainly in oils in still-life and portraiture. She is known as the 'root painter' - plants out of their pots or dug from the ground exposing their roots, larger than life fruits and vegetables and flowers, and undertakes portrait commissions usually in profile.
