Sue Welfare is a self-taught artist and printmaker living and working in West Norfolk
After writing professionally for more than twenty-five years, around eight years ago Sue went on a morning's rag-rug workshop and rediscovered her love of colour, texture and design. Since then she has gone on to explore mosaics, glass, hand-made felt, textiles, papercuts and print-making, revisiting and developing her design ideas using a variety of techniques and media.
Now working primarily as printmaker, Sue works from her own sketches and photos, inspired by the varied coast and countryside of East Anglia, gardens, birds and the rich colour and chaos of domestic life.
While most of Sue's work involves printing with lino (linocuts) she's intrigued and inspired by the idea of re-using scrap and waste materials to create her collagraph prints.
